Exciting opportunity for an experienced, commercially focused, Financial Controller to join expanding SME operating within the IT services sector.
Reporting into their CFO you will be a key member of their senior leadership team, providing financial leadership to the business with the clear objective of adding value at the strategic, operations and commercial level. You will have full responsibility for the company’s financial management, control, reporting and management information.
This is a broad-based finance role which also includes involvement in other areas of the business i.e., compliance, legal, governance.
The successful Financial Controller must be highly motivated, dynamic, and passionate about helping the executive and senior management team in driving the business forward. You will be expected to develop the finance function into a critical business partnering role, supporting the needs of their organisation and being responsive to those needs.
You must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), technically strong and comfortable at both the strategic and ‘hands on’ level and possess a great mix of financial, commercial, and corporate leadership expertise. On a personal level you will need to be an enthusiastic self-starter, capable of building strong relationships and have a real desire to continue growing your career in this role.
In your role of Financial Controller you will have direct responsibility for their Finance Manager who heads up a team of 7 within the finance function. Strong leadership skills are therefore essential as is previous experience within an SME / high growth private equity backed company which has already achieved financial, operational and growth success.
Within this role you will be expected to ensure that the company is supported on all finance levels, that all financial and tax obligations are met and to drive and lead the annual budgeting process including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow. You will be delivering accurate management information, supporting the business planning process and future expansion plans, driving the annual Capex budget process, and providing support on investment appraisals and development of Board reports for project proposals.

- Expert analysis, research and reporting skills
- Excellent IT skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Great Plains Dynamics, and bespoke systems
- A resilient, robust, and practical with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Ability to demonstrate experience of developing, implementing, and embedding a finance system(s) that meets current and continued growth plans
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller
- Commercially astute, with SME/private equity backed company experience / able to understand the associated challenges
- Versatile, flexible, and able to identify and implement better and/or more streamlined processes and working patterns etc
